I accept non institute an answer to this question anywhere so far.

I want to alter the filament mit printing because the filament has run out. How can I do this?

In the case of Ender 3 Pro, there was a corresponding menu particular for this: Modify Filament

While printing you can choose "pause" and and so change filament. (with right firmware)

With my 3 pro I use;

Interruption - Preheat - Change filament

I don't desire the glass bed to cool down and loosen the print while I'1000 fussing with the filament..

I use Marlin 2.ten firmware, simply in that location is no change filament menu particular.

What firmware should exist used to have such a menu particular?

@csosz-imre The aforementioned every bit your ender 3pro. Pause the print and y'all can directly modify the filament. considering you tin can alter the temperature of the nozzle manually.

I paused the print, then melody, then alter the filament. I call back that was it. Only did information technology once. When I went dorsum to printing, everything was outset, and then I canceled it and started over. It was at near 2mm height, and so nothing lost.

Change filament seems to be available in a couple card threads, but trying to find them is a PITA. I have used preheat, then change filament. I think it was. ?

@csosz-imre @axl-myk I call back the "interruption" choice in the melody setting is for irresolute filament.  The attached picture is what I did on ENDER3 V2. Simply click intermission, then the nozzle will go to the corner of the bed, pull out the white filament when the nozzle temp is still over 180/185℃ (the Nozzle is cooling down).

Then dorsum to the tune page, setting the temp to 200℃, change the filament. button a picayune hard to make sure the new filament reaches the nozzle. Last, click print to go along printing. The whole changing procedure takes 3 mins.

I've tried replacing the filament a few times now with varying degrees of success.

I Just paused the print job, removed the onetime filament, and put new filament in, and started it back up once again.  I have to "melody" the job to bring the nozzle temp dorsum to 200, considering information technology keeps going to 0 when I pause and won't go back to 200 when I resume.

The first fourth dimension actually went pretty well, simply the 2d fourth dimension there was a pretty large glob and strings were left beyond the impress, and then the next few layers actually drug against the nozzle to the point I almost canceled the job for fear information technology was hurting the printer.

In the end my print turned out fine, merely the biggest thing is turning the heat upwardly and getting the leftover strings & globs out of the way if possible earlier the print head starts going over them over again.
